Indicators That You Need House Leveling

Foundation problems can appear for several reasons, which can be caused by poor drainage in your yard, overzealous tree roots, extreme temperatures, or a poor construction job to begin with. When you start to experience issues with your foundation, it may require house leveling to fix the problem. The following are a list of signs to look out for:

Cracks or crumbling – Cracks can be one of the most recognizable signs that you might have a foundation problem in your home. Homes are built on a flat, level surface, so when the foundation moves, it will throw everything off. Usually, you will begin to see cracks on your walls, floors, on your exterior façade, and even in the openings of your windows and doors. When you start to notice cracks, it is best to get the problem addressed quickly.

Sticky Doors and Windows – Be aware of strange gaps around your windows and doors. When your doors and windows start to “stick” and are difficult to open or close, it is typically a sign that you need your house leveled.

Gaps in the Seams – Over time, foundation shifting can start to create gaps in the seams of your walls and ceilings. The gaps are fairly similar to cracks and can be alarming.

Sunken Front Porch – As your foundation starts to crumble, it is possible that it can take your front porch along with it. If you start to notice new dips and divots around the exterior of your house, it is usually because of foundation issues.

Wetness or Damage – If your foundation has moved enough to allow water to collect underneath, it may damage your subfloor. This eventually will cause your floors to start to warp or become buckled.
